Into The East River With It....

Mark Steyn takes a look at the real UN.

In fact, however, the UN is a shamefully squalid organization whose corruption is almost impossible to exaggerate. If you think—as the media and the left do in this country—that Iraq is a God-awful mess (which it’s not), then try being the Balkans or Sudan or even Cyprus or anywhere where the problem’s been left to the United Nations. If you don’t want to bulk up your pension by skimming the Oil-for-Food program, no need to worry. Whatever your bag, the UN can find somewhere that suits—in West Africa, it’s Sex-for-Food, with aid workers demanding sexual services from locals as young as four; in Cambodia, it’s drug dealing; in Kenya, it’s the refugee extortion racket; in the Balkans, sex slaves. On a UN peace mission, everyone gets his piece.

Common....there are so many better uses for the property. UN out of US.

Ultra-Mobility It Is....

At least that's what this report says about Origami.

Instead, Origami is the moniker for the first iteration of paperback-sized computers that will run Microsoft's regular Windows XP operating system, a person close to Microsoft told The Associated Press. The person, who is familiar with the plans, spoke on condition of anonymity because the information is still confidential.

You know... I want one so bad I have to wipe the drool off of my keyboard.

Gee, Ya Think....

It seems someone's gotten the crazy idea that the U.S.-Mexican border is easy access and a security risk. /sarcasm

An agent was reporting in with a startling new find: another tunnel, this one shorter and more crudely built, but big enough to provide yet another subterranean port of entry into the USA.

"Of course they could" be used by terrorists, Marwood says of the tunnels his team unearths. "The potential is there, and that makes it unacceptable."

I'd say that it's freaking terrible that it took 9/11 to make get tough about border security, but obviously border security is still a damned joke. That is disgusting.
Of course the teams searching for these tunnels weren't created by Washington....

The team was created not on orders from Washington but out of concerns from agents. The Border Patrol officers were discovering tunnels when their trucks sunk into the dirt after the ground had collapsed over shallow passages.

Appalling. Absolutely appalling.

Awsome, Freakin' Awsome....

Dudes, seriously. Check this out. This chica is totally on point.

Atlas has a similar reaction, but far more eloquently. That is to say, she doesn't sound like a surf bum.

Manifesto....

Twelve call for solidarity amongst free people to resist Islamism.

MANIFESTO: Together facing the new totalitarianism

After having overcome fascism, Nazism, and Stalinism, the world now faces a new totalitarian global threat: Islamism.

We, writers, journalists, intellectuals, call for resistance to religious totalitarianism and for the promotion of freedom, equal opportunity and secular values for all.

The recent events, which occurred after the publication of drawings of Muhammed in European newspapers, have revealed the necessity of the struggle for these universal values. This struggle will not be won by arms, but in the ideological field. It is not a clash of civilisations nor an antagonism of West and East that we are witnessing, but a global struggle that confronts democrats and theocrats.

Like all totalitarianisms, Islamism is nurtured by fears and frustrations. The hate preachers bet on these feelings in order to form battalions destined to impose a liberticidal and unegalitarian world. But we clearly and firmly state: nothing, not even despair, justifies the choice of obscurantism, totalitarianism and hatred. Islamism is a reactionary ideology which kills equality, freedom and secularism wherever it is present. Its success can only lead to a world of domination: man's domination of woman, the Islamists' domination of all the others. To counter this, we must assure universal rights to oppressed or discriminated people.

We reject « cultural relativism », which consists in accepting that men and women of Muslim culture should be deprived of the right to equality, freedom and secular values in the name of respect for cultures and traditions. We refuse to renounce our critical spirit out of fear of being accused of "Islamophobia", an unfortunate concept which confuses criticism of Islam as a religion with stigmatisation of its believers.

We plead for the universality of freedom of expression, so that a critical spirit may be exercised on all continents, against all abuses and all dogmas.

We appeal to democrats and free spirits of all countries that our century should be one of Enlightenment, not of obscurantism.

Origami

Conceptual on Microsoft's elusive project. Check the video.

However, according to the Journal report, the device under development would be for a broad range of uses, not solely a music player, and be modeled after Microsoft's tablet PCs that use a pen-like stylus to input information.

If the ultra-portable pc is the model Microsoft is seeking, it's certainly not going to pan out as the PSP killer. Too expensive. Still, I drool.

This Can't Be Allowed to Happen....

It's time to rally the forces into action. This is unacceptable.

The United States will continue sending humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people even after a Hamas government is formed, a senior U.S. envoy told Palestinian leaders during the first high-level meeting between the two sides since the Islamic militant group's election victory.

Write. Write the whitehouse, write congress. We cannot finance the destruction of Israel (and ourselves).

What The Crap....

...Seriously. What the crap is this???

Never has an article made me blink with astonishment as much as when I read in yesterday's New York Times magazine that Sayed Rahmatullah Hashemi, former ambassador-at-large for the Taliban, is now studying at Yale on a U.S. student visa.

I suspect that the same Dem's who are behaving so shamefully regarding the port deal aren't going to demand that this man's visa be revoked. Shame. The only U.S. institution this man belongs in is Gitmo.

Muslim Madonna....

Really.

It Would Come From MoCo....

....Montgomery County Maryland is quite possibly the closest Maryland gets to California. They're both sanctuaries for the insane.

Middle school magnet programs in Montgomery County have traditionally operated as schools within schools, offering specialized curriculum to a few select students....

But this fall, educators decided to try a different approach. Instead of selecting a few hundred students for traditional school magnets, officials opened magnet programs at three middle schools to everyone.

As someone who had a magnet school education, I should explain that magnet schools are open to everyone. Students go through an application process, which involves submitting an application and going through at least one interview. Space is limited, and there's usually a lengthy waiting list for applicants who didn't quite make the cut.

The application process combined with the idea behind magnet schools (that students select an area they want to focus in ex. math and science, visual arts, performing arts, language emersion....) is designed to attract students who are not only gifted/talented, but motivated. I'm not really sure what more could be done to make it more open and still maintain the goals of the program.

The most laughable part of this, is that it's all being done in the name of diversity.

"In the future, where we want to move is where it's not so much identifying children as gifted and talented so much as getting them the services they need to reach their potential," said Martin Creel, director of the accelerated enriched instruction division.

Yeah, but some people have more potential than others and those people are gifted/talented. Let's face it, not everyone can be a neurologist. Though shouldn't schools be getting students what they need to reach their potential. Isn't that the goal of education. Diversity means that some students are gifted.

In Fairfax County, educators have created the Young Scholars Program, aimed at identifying kindergartners from underrepresented populations who have potential but might need extra support. The school system also has added expanded honors classes at its middle schools in hopes of giving a broader spectrum of students more opportunities, said Carol Horn, coordinator of gifted programs for the school system.

Or they could try to identify the actual causes of the "underrepresentation". Oh, but wait... that would mean they'd have to do work. Why bother to find an actual solution when you can just fling some half-assed effort around to appease the minorities.

Educators hope that the new approach will help them address why black and Hispanic students continue to lag behind white and Asian counterparts in achievement and why so few take advanced classes or are admitted into accelerated programs.

A worth while question that needs real answers, not the pointless show they're putting on.

Idiot Alert....

New York couple confessess via law suite to being to stupid to realize that their dog should chew food before swallowing it.

The maker of Greenies, the nation's best-selling dog treat that has been blamed by consumers in several pet deaths, plans to clarify feeding instructions and increase the print size on packaging, which included a small-print warning that gulping any item can be harmful and even fatal....

....A New York couple has filed a $5 million lawsuit against the company over the death of their miniature dachshund, Burt.

It gets better, because you know what's currently on the package?

....The directions tell owners which size Greenie is right for their pets' weight and instruct them to watch pets to ensure they chew the treat adequately.

But still too difficult to grasp.... Astonishing. I'd be embarrassed, but these asshats....

"If they did this with kids, they would be out of business," Tayman said.

I hope that doesn't mean this guy is shoving large chunks of food down his kid's throat.... Chew before you swallow. It applys to things with teeth. Dogs have teeth. Ergo, dogs should chew before they swallow. Simple, no?

The U.A.E. Port Deal Post

I've been pretty silent about the U.A.E. port deal so far. Really I just wanted to evaluate my reaction and take a good look at the information out there. It's a good thing too, because I'll be the first to admit that my initial reaction was pretty damn knee jerk. In fact I think alot of people's were (and still are in some cases). Don't get me wrong, I understand their side of things, and the MSM hasn't been helping.

Their outright hatred of George W. Bush has led to blatant and unashamed fear mongering on their part.

Opposing the U.A.E.'s deal is misdirecting effort. Yes, port security is a big deal, but the opperations that the U.A.E. will have control over don't include port security. We shouldn't be focusing on what country the people who hire (many times removed) the people who load and unload containers belong to. We should focus on fixing the fact that the eigth largest port in this country seems to feel that wood blocks on poles is a valid replacement for security cameras.

It's note worthy to see the liberals line up to support what amounts to nothing more than corporate racial profiling. I'm for profiling when it makes sense, but it doesn't in this case. The U.A.E. has been named as being an important and loyal ally in the WoT, and while they may not embody all the ideals of the west, they're further along than other Arab countries. We need to support countries that have moderate practices (at least, more so than their neighbors in an effort to see them become truly moderate), not penalize them over our inability to see beyond their geographical location.

Blocking this deal blocks U.A.E. economic growth and will only serve to distance us from a good ally. Not to mention, that as beacon of freedom and success we should be encouraging the independent economic growth of other countries. Even if it's only because we'll save ourselves trouble down the line. And I don't neccessarily mean terrorism. The more successful and free other countries are, the more likely their criminals are to stay there.

Update: Pamela over at Atlas notes an interesting connection between politicians opposing the deal and campaign contributions from the International Longshoremen's Association.

Update: Michelle Malkin is on the other side on this issue, but her reaction isn't what I would call knee jerk. And I agree with her on the changes that need to be made to CFIUS.

Sensitivity Training....

Apparently the UN feels that using swastikas to harrass an Isralie guard is something that can be fixed with a group hug.

The United Nations has reprimanded a security guard for drawing swastikas on a log sheet later seen by a guard from Israel, a UN spokesman said.

The guard who drew the swastikas was issued a letter of reprimand and was asked to attend sensitivity training for the September incident, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said Tuesday.

Maybe it's just me, but I think insensitive is kind of an understatement.

A UN official speaking on condition of anonymity said the guard had also made Nazi-like salutes to his Israeli colleague. The official, who was not authorized to disclose the information publicly, said the guard was from Jamaica.

I guess the UN would send these guys to sensitivity training too.

Charm City....

My home town's serving as an example....

At least one of the ports where DP World is set to operate, Baltimore, has been dogged by security shortcomings for years. A Baltimore Sun investigation in June 2005 revealed that the port's fiber-optic alarm system on the perimeter fence malfunctioned and was usually switched off, and that port police were so understaffed that their patrol boats often dry-docked because there was no one to operate them. The newspaper also found that a pair of "video cameras" guarding the entrance to one important marine terminal were actually blocks of wood on poles.

Last summer, a tour of the port, the nation's eighth largest, revealed gaps in perimeter fences, unattended gates, surveillances systems that didn't work and insufficient police patrols on land and sea. State officials have acknowledged security gaps and said they have been working to close them.

....An example of the laughable state of homeland security. Blocks of wood on poles.... It'd be funny if it wasn't true.

'06....

...By that, I mean 1906.

When the US acquired Mindanao after the beating Spain in the Spanish-American war, Americans came face to face with what came to be known as asymmetrical warfare. Here were attacks on civilians, beheadings, raids on schools. All the stuff of modern headlines. And in the pre-explosive era the ultimate weapon of Imams was the suicide bomber of the day: the juramentado.

Check out the whole thing at The Belmont Club.

Russian Thug-ocracy...

...Responsible for moving Iraq's WMD's before the war.

"The short answer to the question of where the WMD Saddam bought from the Russians went was that they went to Syria and Lebanon," former Deputy Undersecretary of Defense John A. Shaw told an audience Saturday at a privately sponsored "Intelligence Summit" in Alexandria, Va. (www.intelligencesummit.org).

"They were moved by Russian Spetsnaz (special forces) units out of uniform, that were specifically sent to Iraq to move the weaponry and eradicate any evidence of its existence," he said.

I See No Hate Crime....

.../Sarcasm....

French police launched a wide-range investigation on Tuesday after a twenty three-year-old Jewish man was kidnapped and murdered....

Of course the fact that this crime was committed by a gang of muslims couldn't possibly make it a hate crime /sarcasm.....

A police source said the gang is a group of childhood friends who grew up in Bagneux, a suburb south of Paris. The gang includes Muslims of North African descent and is headed by Youssef Fofana, who has escaped police capture so far.

I don't like the idea of "hate crime", but if you're gonna have the legislation you need to apply it equally. LGF has more coverage, but
Allison Kaplan Sommer sounded the wake up.

Well, actually, no.

So of course you're wondering why this upstanding gentleman isn't on the link list, and all I have to say in response is, "he is now."

Danish Exports on the Rise....

And how....

Today's Jyllands-Posten says that the growth in 2006 in Danish exports to two countries alone is larger than our total export to the entire Muslim world. The two countries are Germany and USA, and the estimates are even made without considering the Buy Danish-campaigns, that are unfolding in these two countries. If they have an effect, it'll be an extra bonus.

Bwahahah! Frickin, woot. Keep buying Danish- boycott the boycott.

Couldn't Have Said it Better Myself.....

When asked whether he regretted his decision to publish the Mohammed cartoons, in light of the firestorm they unleashed in the Islamic world and threats against him, Flemming said it was like asking a rape victim whether she regretted wearing a short skirt.

Beautiful. Freakin' beautiful.

Bah Humbug....

I'm sure I'm not the only "clever" person to notice that Valentine's Day and Venerial Disease can be abreivated the same way. It's just that I'm not partial to the holiday. I think that it shouldn't take a calander edict to get a person to demonstrate to the one they love, that they hold a special place in their life.

My brother says that the holiday is simply a tool by which the tyrannical couple-ocracy reinforce their fist like hold on society. I suppose he has a point there.

At any rate, for those of you who fancy this blatant excuse for shameless PDA, have a happy one. For those of you who, like me, would rather wake up and have it be the 15th, my happy hour starts at 10:30pm because I work late tomorrow.

People Islam Should Be Proud to Have....

Growing numbers of moderate muslims in Denmark are speaking out in opposition to the cartoon riots and the goals behind them.

Moderates such as Kamran Tahmasebi say they have had enough of fanatic Islamism and its intimidation of the Muslim immigrants in Denmark. “It is an irony that I am today living in a European democratic state and have to fight the same religious fanatics that I fled from in Iran many years ago,” Mr Tahmasebi says. He came to Denmark as a refugee in 1989. Today he works as a social consultant and is very grateful for the life Denmark has made it possible for him to have. He says he no longer wants to keep a low profile to avoid attracting the attention of the imams. The cartoon affair was an incentive for him to stand up and warn against the Islamist imams in Denmark, whom he says are damaging the integration process with their misleading criticism of Danish values and norms.

We need more people like this. Their visability helps show what the two sides of this war really are. Not West vs Arabs, but freedom vs tyranny.

"These are our folk heroes," Miller said. "It just seems silly to chase around the Riddler when you've got Al Qaeda out there."

I haven't owned a comic book in a while, but I am so gonna have to buy this one.
Michelle Malkin has more.

More Couragious Than CNN and NYT Combined...

No Apology, no appeasement is the message these guys want to get out.

We are proud not to take the route of the New York Times, Washington Post or other major newspapers which have not published the cartoons. Their decision to leave their readership uninformed on an issue causing riots, death and damage is irresponsible.

Free speech is all about more speech. We will not allow a hastily written, knee-jerk editorial to undo the work we have done for our readers or intimidate us from carrying that mission out from here.

These students need to know that we're with them.

Dhimmi-crats....

Pathetic....

Srinagar, February 10: Nearly two dozen black-veiled Muslim women stormed gift and stationery shops Friday in Kashmir, burning Valentine's Day cards and posters to protest a holiday they say imposes Western values on Muslim youth....

....
"We will not let anyone sell these cards or celebrate Valentine's Day," said Asiya Andrabi, the group's leader, as she held a burning poster in her hand. "These Western gimmicks are corrupting our kids and taking them away from their roots."

They use these tactics because the stone age death cult that they call a culture can't win simply on its merrits. So long as we believe in western civilization, we'll win this thing because the natural direction of the human race is forward.

First Russia...

...and now the global capital of the spineless.

...France on Friday appeared to lend support to the Russian initiative, dealing another setback to Israeli and U.S. efforts to isolate Hamas until it recognises the Jewish state and renounces violence.

All we need is Germany and the Axis of Weasles will be reconstituted and back up to their old tricks.
But there's also this gem of a quote:

Israel has long ruled out negotiating with Hamas, which masterminded more than 60 suicide bombings against Israelis since 2000 but has largely adhered to a truce declared in March.

Are these guys for real?! I'm actually speechless.... Some things just break your brain, and "Yeah, these guys are murderers, but they really haven't killed that many people since March, so we should be cool with them." , takes the fucking taco, pal. Somebody get these folks some drugs STAT because they are clearly a danger to themselves and others.

Oh, but wait. We're not done yet....

When asked about Russia's invitation to Hamas, French Foreign Ministry spokesman Denis Simonneau said: "As long as we stay within the framework of the objectives and principles that we have fixed, we think that this initiative can contribute towards advancing our position."

"We share with Russia the goal of leading Hamas towards positions that permit reaching the objective of two states living in peace and security," Simonneau said.

Okay, lets see if we can understand this boys and girls. Hamas' charter- their reason for existing is to wipe Israel off the map. How in the hell are you going to get them to accept a two state resolution!?! How do we spell delusion? F-R-A-N-C-E.
Europe is doomed.

Kidnapping Update

There's a new Jill Caroll tape.

BAGHDAD -- Looking healthy and composed, the American reporter kidnapped in Iraq last month appeared on a new videotape aired on an Arab-language television channel today, urging supporters to do whatever necessary to obtain her release.

That's okay news. Even more so, as how they've pushed back the dead line already.

But It's A Bad Idea, Right...../Sarcasm

...President Bush said Thursday that spy work stretching from the U.S. to Asia helped thwart terrorists plotting to use shoe bombs to hijack an airliner and crash it into the tallest skyscraper on the West Coast.

But it takes a Clue brick to teach a member of the LLL.

My favorite place for insensitive attire has three new shirts to make you awsome. Now you can wear your stance on the cartoon contraversy. (Well...only if you're a reasonable person who supports Denmark.)

EU Welcomes Its Muslim Overlords....

...with open arms and sealed lips.

In an interview with Britain's Daily Telegraph, EU Justice and Security Commissioner Franco Frattini said the charter would encourage the media to show "prudence" when covering religion.

"The press will give the Muslim world the message: We are aware of the consequences of exercising the right of free expression," he told the newspaper. "We can and we are ready to self-regulate that right."

If you remember, the entire purpose behind the original publishing of these cartoons was to test the climate of self censorship in the EU press regarding Islam. Well, it looks like EU beaurorats are gonna eliminate the need for future inquery by laying it right out there in the form of a code of conduct for their media. Not surprising, but appalling none the less.

Not All That Surprising Really....

MADRID (Reuters) -
Russian President, Vladimir Putin said on Thursday he would invite Hamas leaders to Moscow, opening a crack in a wall of U.S.-led opposition to dealing with the Palestinian election winner until it recognized Israel.

After all this is coming from a country with a long history of anti-semitisim, which has been supplying the enemies of Israel with weapons for some time. After the strong arm tactics they tried with the Russia-Ukrain pipeline, it was clear that this Russian government is just thuggery in an expensive suit and red tape. Given all of that it's no wonder Putin is getting all dolled up to make kissy-face with the murderous Hamas.

Hello Pot, This Is Kettel....

Oh shock of shocks.... /sarcasm. More rage from unwashed masses over the cartoons.

A mass demonstration of 100,000 Muslims will take place in London next weekend as anger continues over publication of cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.

Alright, this is just getting boring now. I mean isn't there anything else for them to protest yet? How about the fact that in the English language a 'q' is always followed by a 'u'?

Faiz Saddiqi, the committee convener, said: "It is a peaceful protest. We will not let it be hijacked by the fringe elements.

Okay dude, you are a fringe element. You live in a free democratic western society and you have your panties all up in a twist because that country refuses to act like the third world hell holes you and your 100,00 fellow jerkoffs hail from.

Oh, It's British...Thank God.

So I wound up with a free ticket to Imagine Me and You last night. To be fair to all involved, I went to this movie with my general philosophy that lesbian movies suck. And then the opening credits started and the movie turned out be British. Thank God. So instead of having to endure three hours of sloppy and superfluous camera work, ugly casting, and just all around shabby writing, I was treated to 90 minutes of plesant and charming. The cast is beautiful, the camera work is clean, the writing is good. The movie manages to be both laugh out loud funny, and honestly touching. I suspect that it's because the movie is just a good romantic comedy that happens to be about two women. Whereas, American lesbian movies are like "GAY! LOOK! IT'S GAY!". Then you get three hours of sunlight streaming through trees for no reason other than the director was like "Ooo, pretty...", and crazed bug-eyed aliens assaulting defenseless Earth women. (Note the insect beast in the center.) I enthusiasticly recommend seeing 'Imagine Me and You'- especialy if you think that most American lesbian films suck.

If By Most....

...you mean the MSM then I suppose this artical would be considerred "fake but accurate"?

Feb. 7, 2006 — While it's known that the blogosphere is growing fast, most people figured that the trend would stop or at least slow down.

Of course I'd also wager that by 'figured' they meant 'hoped'.

Recap....

So I've just spent the past few minutes going over my old sites. I'd like to think I've come a pretty long way since Skullcrusher and R.A.H. Skullcrusher was full of vitrol and rage, which was to be expected. I was 19/20 when I was writing it. Juvenile would be an understatement, yes?
R.A.H. was my first effort at real blogging and I think that at the beginning my admiration for the people I was reading (and for the most part am still reading with addition of a few new brains) drowned out my own voice on the majority of that site. I re-read my first post here at THoRA and while I've absolutely failed in keeping up my previous two sites, I think that I've succeeded in establishing my own voice for the most part. I think that I really just out grew Skullcrusher and R.A.H., so it's good that I'm no longer posting there. It'd only serve to hold me back. But one of the things that I haven't done here is talk about my home town. I'm gonna try to work on that. Don't get me wrong, I still want to get the hell out of this city, but it also has its good points. I'm going to try...not to be even handed,....but to be honest about it.
It's been an interesting ride so far, and if there's anyone out there (which I tend to doubt) thanks for sticking with me so far and I hope you stay around. I'm just warming up here and things are only gonna get better.
So if you're out there, thanks for stopping in. If you're not out there yet, I'm sure you will be, so thanks for stopping in.

So this morning I had an interview for a new job. With any luck I'll be able to quit the fuck out of my current job very very soon.
Keep your fingers crossed for me. Better hours, more money, less burnout. I'll cut deals with the universe to get this job.

Call To Arms...

Boycot Citgo!
Apparently Chavez's Sheehe fueled nightmares have cause him to speak further insanity.
Indeed, he threatens to take down America using Citgo (as how the Venezuelan government is the sole owner).
Meh... silly commie. Capitalism is economic democracy and you're about to get voted the fuck out.
(Or at least taken down a notch or two.)
Atlas Shrugs has more.

State Of The Union

I got in from work at around 10:15 this evening, so I read the SOTU over at LGF. Consequently, I can't really comment on its delivery, but I can comment on its content. There's good stuff in there, but the first thing that really caught my attention was this:

The road of victory is the road that will take our troops home. As we make progress on the ground, and Iraqi forces increasingly take the lead, we should be able to further decrease our troop levels but those decisions will be made by our military commanders, not by politicians in Washington, D.C.

Yep, one more way that Iraq is absolutely not Vietnam. Just another f-you to all the lousy no-good sons of bitches that have said otherwise.

The reference to Iran was just right.

The same is true of Iran, a nation now held hostage by a small clerical elite that is isolating and repressing its people. The regime in that country sponsors terrorists in the Palestinian territories and in Lebanon and that must come to an end. The Iranian government is defying the world with its nuclear ambitions and the nations of the world must not permit the Iranian regime to gain nuclear weapons. America will continue to rally the world to confront these threats. And tonight, let me speak directly to the citizens of Iran: America respects you, and we respect your country. We respect your right to choose your own future and win your own freedom. And our Nation hopes one day to be the closest of friends with a free and democratic Iran.

America will bring the stick to your insane leaders, but we offer you, the Iranian people, the carrot of friendship.

There was a brief mention of immigration.

Keeping America competitive requires an immigration system that upholds our laws, reflects our values, and serves the interests of our economy. Our Nation needs orderly and secure borders. To meet this goal, we must have stronger immigration enforcement and border protection. And we must have a rational, humane guest worker program that rejects amnesty allows temporary jobs for people who seek them legally and reduces smuggling and crime at the border.

It sounds good, but lip service often does. Personally, I'm pretty happy to see some states leading the charge.

But the talk of the town has been about energy.

The best way to break this addiction is through technology. Since 2001, we have spent nearly 10 billion dollars to develop cleaner, cheaper, more reliable alternative energy sources and we are on the threshold of incredible advances. So tonight, I announce the Advanced Energy Initiative a 22-percent increase in clean-energy research at the Department of Energy, to push for breakthroughs in two vital areas. To change how we power our homes and offices, we will invest more in zero-emission coal-fired plants; revolutionary solar and wind technologies; and clean, safe nuclear energy.

We must also change how we power our automobiles. We will increase our research in better batteries for hybrid and electric cars, and in pollution-free cars that run on hydrogen. We will also fund additional research in cutting-edge methods of producing ethanol, not just from corn but from wood chips, stalks, or switch grass. Our goal is to make this new kind of ethanol practical and competitive within six years. Breakthroughs on this and other new technologies will help us reach another great goal: to replace more than 75 percent of our oil imports from the Middle East by 2025. By applying the talent and technology of America, this country can dramatically improve our environment move beyond a petroleum-based economy and make our dependence on Middle Eastern oil a thing of the past.

Even if the Middle Eastern Oil Weapon really is a myth, this is certainly a good thing. Transfer of wealth to terrorist states (even ones we don't want to call terrorist) is definately not doing us any good and won't in the future either. Besides, we totally need more math and science teachers.

Tonight I announce the American Competitiveness Initiative, to encourage innovation throughout our economy, and to give our Nations children a firm grounding in math and science.

Apparently POTUS feels the same way.

Not Everything is wine and roses though.

Today marks the official retirement of a very special American. For 24 years of faithful service to our Nation, the United States is grateful to Justice Sandra Day OConnor.

Well.... I guess it would have been rather inappropriate to throw in a "thank God" at the end of that last part. Still....

Then there was this:

A hopeful society has institutions of science and medicine that do not cut ethical corners, and that recognize the matchless value of every life. Tonight I ask you to pass legislation to prohibit the most egregious abuses of medical research human cloning in all its forms creating or implanting embryos for experiments creating human-animal hybrids and buying, selling, or patenting human embryos. Human life is a gift from our Creator and that gift should never be discarded, devalued, or put up for sale.

This little shctick about cloning and stem cell research comes off like a bad sci-fi novel at best and religious alarmism at the worst.

Still, it ends well.

Before history is written down in books, it is written in courage. Like Americans before us, we will show that courage and we will finish well. We will lead freedoms advance. We will compete and excel in the global economy. We will renew the defining moral commitments of this land. And so we move forward optimistic about our country, faithful to its cause, and confident of victories to come.

That's the highlight real from me folks. And I can't end it any better than that quote up there.

New Linkage....

Don't know how I missed her, but this chica is on point.

So, according to "big media" the Bush Administration failed when it didn't intercept phone calls into the U.S. from known terrorists, and it is violating the Constitution now when it does intercept such calls.

That's why she's now got herself a place in my links. Check her out. Or I breaka your face....

About Fucking Time....

Since Hamas is living down to the expectations of all rational observers....

DAMASCUS, Syria, Jan. 28 -- Days after Hamas's victory in Palestinian parliamentary elections, the group's exiled political leader vowed Saturday to continue its confrontation with Israel and suggested that the radical Islamic movement would turn its military wing into a national army for defensive reasons "like any other country."

Congress has decided to make some long over due progress

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a Republican of Florida, will introduce House legislation this week to slash American funding to the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations; designate the Palestinian Authority as a "terrorist sanctuary," and close down some Palestinian Authority offices in America as part of a reduction of Palestinian-American diplomatic ties.

The PA has long been a terrorist sanctuary (read: organization). It's just that some people had to be hit in the face with a sledgehammer to get it. I'm also digging the inclusion of the UN in this bill. I say we free up that valuable New York property and evict 'em all together. Didn't I tell you good things would come out of this?

Not to mention this....

NATO: MARTINO,THE MOMENT TO ADMIT ISRAEL HAS ARRIVED
(AGI) - Rome, 30 Jan "To admit Israel in NATO". This was Defence Minister, Antonio Martino's idea, as stated in Radio 24-Il Sole 24 ore 'Vivavoce' program.

Keeping my fingers crossed on this. It's certainly looking like the displaced Arabs totally fucked themselves in this election. I'm diggin' it so hard.

More Delusions....

....from Iranian leadership.

Were Israel to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, Iran would respond so strongly that it would put the Jewish state into "an eternal coma" like Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's, the Iranian defense minister said Wednesday.

"Zionists should know that if they do anything evil against Iran, the response of Iran's armed forces will be so firm that it will send them into eternal coma, like Sharon," Gen. Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said.

Najjar said the United States and Israel have been trying to frighten Iran, but neither country would dare attack to Iran.

Oh...this guy....he's got a one way ticket on the bullettrain to dead-ville, and he doesn't even know it. That, my friends, is comedy.

It Feels Kind Of Wrong....

...to be celebrating news like this.

By early Thursday morning in had become clear that Hamas had shocked prognasticators by winning virtually all of the 66 seats in electoral districts.

But I can't help, but hope that maybe it means we'll finally wash our hands of the displaced Arabs and quit pressuring Israel into self destructive concessions. It looks promising. Israeli leadership has already stated that a Hamas led PA can't be trusted (like it could be trusted anyway), and President Bush has stated that the US won't deal with Hamas unless it renounced terrorism.

Regarding its future diplomatic policy regarding Israel, a senior Hamas official said recognizing and negotiating with Israel are "not on our agenda."

Yep.... I think it's pretty clear what's on their agenda.

Reaction from the White House looks good on paper, but Fatah is a terrorist organization too, and we certainly dealt with them. Still a girl can hope.

But Ms. Rice said that the international community had to send "a clear signal" to Hamas that it needed to drop its hard-line agenda.

"Anyone who wants to govern and do so with the support of the international community has got to be committed to a two-state solution and must be committed to the right of Israel to exist, must be committed to the renunciation of violence," she said.

On Wednesday, White House spokesman Scott McClellan was even more blunt.

"Hamas is a terrorist organization," he told reporters this morning. "Under current circumstances, I don't see any change in that."

And with words like that, hope isn't all that hard to do.

Oh That 10th Ammendment....

State legislators everywhere seem to be discovering amazing things...namely...their balls.

Frustrated by congressional inaction and pushed by anger at home, state legislatures across the United States are debating tough new restrictions on illegal immigrants.

For years, states deferred to the federal government on immigration matters, but as illegal immigrants have spread throughout the country and Congress has been unable to pass an immigration reform bill, that has changed. In the first six months of last year, states considered nearly 300 immigration-related bills and passed 36 of them, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

Well, 36 is a damn better start than anything Congress has done lately, but it's still pretty damn shabby.

"You can say it's a federal problem all you want, but the truth is it's in your backyard so the problem's yours," said Susan Tulley of the Federation of Americans for Immigration Reform, an advocacy group that seeks to reduce illegal immigration.

This Susan Tulley might have just made it to my holiday gift list.

Who'da Thunk It....

Insurgents delcare war on al-Qaeda in Iraq.

With any luck, they'll fight to the last man.

Four Corners...

...is nice, but I can't wait until they play blackout.

Congrats, IAF on the missile strike.

Bush Administration Pisses Away...

...a perfectly good opportunity to drop all funding to the displaced Arabs.

RAMALLAH, West Bank -- The Bush administration is spending foreign aid money to increase the popularity of the Palestinian Authority on the eve of crucial elections in which the governing party faces a serious challenge from the radical Islamic group Hamas.

That's right, instead of letting those syphallitic goat fuckers elect the shitbags of
Hamas and thereby prohibiting us from further dealings (not to mention funding), we're throwing more money at them. And at the PA no less, which we just don't wanna call a terrorist organization. Fuckers.

U.S. and Palestinian officials say they fear the election, scheduled for Wednesday, will result in a large Hamas presence in the 132-seat legislature. Hamas, formally known as the Islamic Resistance Movement, is at war with Israel and is classified by the U.S. government as a terrorist organization. But its reputation for competence and accountability in providing social services has made it a stiff rival of the secular Fatah movement, which runs the Palestinian Authority and has long been the largest party in the Palestinian territories.

Fatah? Secular? Well....okay, I mean they're cool with female homicide bombers. This is retarded, this is a perfect opportunity to just wash our hands of the displaced Arabs and committ to being pro-Israel (which we should have already done). Instead, because we don't like the candidate we're gonna funnel money to (read: interfere with) their election. Well, golly ... I wonder who we'll be funding during the next elections in France and Germany. Equal opportunity and all....

Big Bad Oil Weapon...

...is like dying in virtual reality. Roger Stern's artical in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences says that not only is oil not scarce, but that the ability of the Middle East to use it as a weapon is quite overblown.
Unfortunately our belief in the oil weapon is really what gives it power (get the vr thing now?), and shapes our foreign policy.

RoPMA At It Again...

Today a homocide bomber in Tel Aviv. JPost reports 30 wounded. Yahoo news updates as 15 dead.

Filthy murderous wastes of skin. Whatever parts of him they can find should be wrapped in bacon.

Yes, We Are Winning

Osama or his stand in offer a truce....

CAIRO, Egypt, Jan. 19, 2006 (The Canadian Press delivered by Newstex) -- Al-Jazeera aired an audiotape purportedly from Osama bin Laden Thursday saying al-Qaida is making preparations for attacks in the United States but offering a truce to build Iraq and Afghanistan.

Translation: they need to catch their breath.

"Based on what I have said, it is better not to fight the Muslims on their land," he said. "We do not mind offering you a truce that is fair and long-term. ... So we can build Iraq and Afghanistan ... there is no shame in this solution because it prevents wasting of billions of dollars ... to merchants of war."

Translation: Please Mr.Great Satan, we are very much thinking we are losing and would like the chance to rebuild our forces so we can fight this war in your cities instead of ours. Kay, thanks so much, bye.

Bwahahahaha!! There you have it boys and girls, clear proof that this war is not only winnable, but that we're winning it. Of course the BBC misses the point completely.

1.16.2006

...Or Not.....

So an Islamic group is urging a Catholic school to change over to the Muslim persuasion. Their point is that most of the students are follow Islam and therefore the school should make the switch.
Boys and girls I present unto you a microcosom sample of the RoP MO. Instead of building their own school, they over-run a pre-existnig one and then expect it to change for them. Instead of building their own free and successful country, they over-run a pre-existing one and expect it to change for them.
Fortunately for the Catholic school, it answers to the local archdioses which is unlikely to agree to any such thing.
Unfortunately for the continent of Europe, it answers to it's population of spineless socialist twits, who are rapidly becoming out numbered by the unasymilated masses of the uncivilized.

Sinking Deeper Or Just Rolling In It....

....either way Kuisling Annan is still a piece of shit.

In other words, as far as Annan is concerned, the problem is not that Iran has escalated the stakes. The problem is that involvement of the Security Council, which is supposed to be the "organ bearing the main responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security," is escalation. The U.N. chief aims to shift the dynamic from taking strong action against an Iranian madman, bent on nuclear proliferation and the obliteration of a U.N. member state, to placing roadblocks in the way of an American-driven effort to stop it.

Big surprise there, but I wonder if it's still "escalation" when we (or the Israelies, if we fail to act soon enough) bomb Iran back to primordial slime (they're alreay in the stone age).

The Trouble I've Seen....

So yesterday was the day of names.
At work a girl gave me her name and number and I can't remember what she looks like because I really don't look at customers.
Last night was quiz night and everyone wanted to know if I remembered their frackin' name, which I generally didn't.
Except for the beautiful girl I was talking to, but when she did the spot check I totally wasn't confident because I hadn't remembered anyone's name all frackin' night, so she totally thought that I didn't know her name.
But I totally got the names of the two guys I missed last night.
By the way, I never found that beautiful girl again. Lame. So frackin' lame.

1.12.2006

Notoriously Unreliable....

It seems as if all the women in my life are notoriously unreliable.
Shikataganai, neh?
Perhaps it's my fault for not being interested enough. Honestly, I've been uninspired as of late and consequently, I have probably demonstrated a remarkable lack of enthusiasm.
*Sigh* I'm just tired of being bored. It's gotten to the point where I'm not even dissapointed anymore.

Oh well....

Milestone Worth Celebrating.....

Here's an Iraq milestone the Pravda's Hudson chapter won't be telling you about.

According to the Brookings Institution's Iraq Index (PDF file, see page 16), the holy warrior mortality and imprisonment count is screamin' unchecked towards 60,000

Dudes, I'll totally drink to that.

What Passes...

So last night I watched the season three premier of Showtime's Lesbian soap opera, "The L Word". After last night's espisode, it's kind of a toss up as to exactly what the 'L' stands for. Tell, you what, heads it's Lame. Tails it Laconic.

After mini-series sized recap of the previous season the audience was treated to several minutes of the main characters listing euphamisms for genitalia. [sarcasm] Originality! [/sarcasm]

"Queer As Folk" was edgier and smarter. Dialog and plot content of "The L word" is what a network soap would be if every single writer spent every waking moment on valium and hired a porn director to make up for it. I've felt this way from about halfway though season one. With rare exception, the 45 minute show could easily be stripped down to 15 minutes just by cutting out awkward silent stares, dramatic pauses, and soft core porn.

The show is approximately 2/3 filler, but this is what passes for a good show in the lesbian "community". There are no other options to choose from, so the audience is about as demanding as a coma patient.

The majority of the characterizations posess the depth of a sheet of paper. And the funny part is that this series is supposedly acclaimed for being "bold" and "groundbreaking". And it is, in a world where "Queer As Folk" never existed. Post QAF, "The L Word" is just recycled tripe patronizing an audience that is rarely catered to. Also the actresses are really hot.

But three seasons in, the fact that I would love bang just about every member of the cast is really no where near enough to keep me watching.
You wanna see a good series on Showtime? Watch "Weeds". You wanna see a good series without have to shell out extra money for a subscription channel? Watch "Nip/Tuck", or better still, watch "Battelstar Galactica". N/T has all the originality and edge that TLW thinks it has. It has the soft core porn aspect, plus it has violence. Sweet!

And BG is absolutely the best show on TV. Hands down. I saw the season premier and I am so stoked for the rest of the season I can hardly contain myself. It looks fucking awesome. So skip out on TLW unless you're hard up for a weak soap opera that's got some hot girl on girl soft core. (Honestly if you're that hard up, you should probably just buy some porn.)

1.06.2006

Woot....

New Season of Gallactica starts tonight!
This is seriously the best damn show on TV and I am wicked stoked about tonight.

Now Can We Kick Some Ass.....

I mean it's not like there wasn't plenty of evidence before this little stunt, but if it has to take anything else we might as well nuke ourselves.

Iran failed to attend a meeting in Vienna to discuss its decision to resume nuclear fuel research, the UN's nuclear watchdog says.

[sarcasm] But hey.... that could mean anything, so let's be understanding.[/sarcasm]

"But they should know that the Iranian nation and government will defend the right to nuclear research and technology and will go forward prudently."

Frankly I'm in favor of a good swift kick to their crotch, but Officers Club thinks that bombing them might not be necessary. Either way, it's time for democracy, whiskey, sexy to hit Iran.

1.05.2006

PSA....

I tend to not blog about my personal life. Really it's for two reasons. I suppose I'll elaborate on those reasons now- namely because several people have asked me about whether or not I blog about my personal life in the past few days.

The first reason is really that, I can't write about people that I know without feeling a little weird. (If you take note, the few times I do blog about my personal life, I don't mention names.)

The second reason is that if I'm gonna blog my life, I might as well write a sitcom script for Logo. And that's a blow to heavy for even my ego to handle. The part of me that fancies myself a writer cannot abide the idea that that writer is a washed out Hollywood hack. (Though my life alla sitcom would be infinately more dynamic than 'The L Word'. Unfortunately there would also be less sex. Sad, but true and mostly my fault.)

All of that to say that...I may.... may... blog a little more about my personal life. Not a lot, but a little bit more about my immediate surroundings.

If There Was Ever Any Doubt....

As to just how putrid these husks of humanity really are.... (From Front Page magazine)

I prayed from the depths of my heart that Allah would cause the success of his operation. I asked Allah to give me 10 [Israelis] for Muhammad, and Allah granted my request and Muhammad made his dream come true, killing 10 Israeli settlers and soldiers. Our God honored him even more, in that there were many Israelis wounded.

I once heard it said that there will only be peace in the Middle East when Arabs value the lives of their children more than they value killing Jews. This serves as a further reminder that that peace will only come when every last murderous shit-stain has met the business end of a gun. Preferably an Israelie or American one.

In my view, this issue goes far beyond China. The behavior of companies like Microsoft, Yahoo! and others - and their eager willingness to comply with Chinese government demands - shows a fundamental lack of respect for users and our fundamental human rights. Globally.

Indeed.

Those Crazy Displaced Arabs....

Everybody's a target for these guys. Even Egypt.

RAFAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — Palestinian militants angry at the jailing of their leader by Palestinian police stole two bulldozers Wednesday and rammed through a wall near the border with Egypt, hours after they blocked the official border crossing and took over government buildings.

[sarcasm] Well that's rational thinking for you. Your leader imprisons a criminal, but you disagree with it, so you attack someone who has nothing to do with it. Yep. Makes sense. [/sarcasm]

The gunmen, who belong to the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a violent offshoot of Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party, rammed through the massive wall as a show of force against the Palestinian Authority. They had not breached a second wall directly on the border with Egypt.

[sarcasm] Ah, I see. Your chief complaint being that your leadership isn't strong enough, you resolve to make it weaker because that will totally fix things. I love these guys. [/sarcasm]

Of course mixed in with all of this hilarity is another alleged kidnapping attempt. This time the potential "victims" were the parents of one St.Pancake.

In other chaos, Palestinian gunmen burst into a Rafah house early Wednesday and tried to kidnap the parents of Rachel Corrie, an American who was killed in 2003 as she protested the impending demolition of a house in the southern Gaza town, according to a witness.

Wait. That's....that's still funny. Leave it to the LLL to love an idiotarian asshat flavored pancake.

But it gives the USA Al-Jiz an opportunity to parade that asshat again, right before the obligatory smear on Israel.

Also, Israeli opposition lawmakers demanded authorities quickly finish an investigation into new bribery allegations against Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and announce the results before Israel's March 28 elections.

That's right, an entire article devoted to the sweeping chaos engulfing the Displaced Arabs that has just recently become apparent to the rest of the world, it is somehow appropriate to toss in six paragraphs on the Sharon's questionable financing practices. [sarcasm] Oh. I get it. Whatever happens in the Middle East, from tire fires to rioting Displaced Arabs, it's all the fault of those Jooooos. [/sarcasm]

New Study Shows Baby Boomers Still Clueless....

Can't copy and paste so click here. Then come back and read.

Adverts increase usage of a product? You don't say! I hope someone tells the corporations about this before they find themselves with more money.....

Honestly, talk about a non-story if ever there was one. Good fucking grief. If I'm reading this right, then the study was basically a survey, where the contributing questions to their graph were something like:
1.) How many ads for alcoholic beverages do you see over x amount of time?
2.) How much do you drink over y amount of time?

That sounds kinda like a correlation study to me (also because I don't know too many parents of minors who are willing to send their kids off for some potential boozing in a well controlled study). That doesn't really indicate cause and effect, so much as that there might be a relationship between the two.

That being said, the fact that in the US the only recreational thing for most kids between the ages of 16 and 20 to do, is go to the mall probably isn't a contributing factor at all. Nor is the fact that a growing number of malls are banning unsupervised teens, I'm sure.
And it can have absolutely nothing to do with the fact that we treat alcohol as taboo when coming to young people, because young people aren't rebellious at all and consequently have no interest in breaking taboos.

And Gee, that's just off the top of my head. Give me a fucking break. People need to get a grip.

Shameless Attention Whoring....

Apparently two schools are fighting over which one's wardrobe served as the inspirational wardrobe for Narnia.

Besieged with media inquiries, each school tells reporters much the same thing: Their wardrobes were certainly owned by the prolific don, who died Nov. 22, 1963; however, it is unclear whether Lewis had either one in mind when the four children in his story poked into an armoire and somehow wound up cavorting with the chatty animals inhabiting Narnia.

Mheh.... Fucking hilarious.

That's Gonna Hurt....

Looks like Putin's thuggery just earned him a bitch slap.

New proposals to ease Europe's reliance on gas from Russia will be ready by the end of the year, the European Commission said.

A report on improving the EU's security of gas supply will be considered by EU leaders in March in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine pipeline dispute which has now been resolved.

And from EUrowenies too.... That's a blow to the wallet and the ego.

Iran Update....

JPost brings us this unsurprising information....

"In addition to sensitive goods, Iran continues intensively to seek the technology and know-how for military applications of all kinds," the Guardian quoted the report as saying.

It is so time to kick the tires and light the fires, amigos.

Whining Liberal Cry Babies Had It Right in 2000....

Ralph Nader is a complete fucking tool. (Now put down the rocks.)

NEW YORK, April 27 (AScribe Newswire) -- Narcolepsy Network Inc., announced to its members today that Abbott Laboratories will cease production of Cylert, a medication used by an estimated 10,000 Americans afflicted with the sleep disorders of narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia. In an untreated state, both of these disorders are characterized by excessive sleepiness and sleep attacks during the day. At the same time, Public Citizen's Health Research Group, on behalf of individuals with ADHD, has petitioned the FDA to ban Cylert and its generic equivalent, Pemoline, due to risks associated with this medication.

In a statement today, Sharon Smith, President of Narcolepsy Network, said, "Even with treatment, narcolepsy limits patients in every aspect of their lives. A ban on Pemoline will have a tremendously negative impact on those narcolepsy patients who cannot tolerate other agents. Tolerance levels for risk associated with a medication are tied to the existence of alternatives and the consequences foregoing treatment. Without a medication to relieve excessive daytime sleepiness, these patients will no longer be able to function well enough to continue their present daily activities. No life event is as devastating and far-reaching as the loss of one's ability to function. A ban on Pemoline will force individuals to resort to disability. They and their family members will suffer the economic consequences of a significantly reduced income and loss of medical and retirement benefits. Others will no longer be able to achieve sufficient wakefulness to accomplish the ordinary tasks essential to independent living and will become burdens to their families, the Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid Systems and to society in general. The ADHD population has many alternative medications from which to choose."

Not to mention....

November 8, 2005Cylert, a central nervous system stimulant that was approved by the FDA for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (A DH D), has also been used to treat fatigue in MS. The FDA has now determined that the risk of liver toxicity from Cylert and generic pemoline products outweighs the benefits of this drug. In May 2005, Abbott chose to stop sales and marketing of Cylert in the U.S. All generic companies have also agreed to stop sales and marketing of this product (pemoline tablets and chewable tablets).

But you don't have to take my word for it. Mrs. Hayden is boiling over with rage, and honestly I think she presents a better case than I ever could....

If Ralph Nader is run over by a beer truck and killed, if a very large meteorite falls on the offices of Public Citizen and vaporizes the lot of them, I won’t feel sorry. Not the least little bit.

See? I just don't think I can top that.

1.03.2006

Bwahahah.....

Even the Paleswinian "police" have decided to join the act.

GAZA (Reuters) - About 200 policemen stormed government offices in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah on Monday to protest at the failure of the Palestinian Authority to fight growing lawlessness, witnesses said.

[sarcasm] Because nothing demonstrates your dissaproval of chaos like contributing to it. [/sarcasm]

The incident was the latest sign of chaos in Gaza, which has suffered growing internal unrest since Israel withdrew last September after 38 years of occupation.

Right, if by "occupation" you mean controlling land that you won in a war that you didn't start. Still, Steven Den Beste predicted this sometime ago (back when he was still blogging politics). It's absolutely worth reading.

Madmen, Tyranny, and Nukes Oh My....

LGF has this heads up on Iran.

By the end of Khatami’s second term in 2004 “we were distanced from the goals of the (1979 Islamic) Revolution and our activity in the Islamic world had been somewhat diminished,” Jalali quoted Ahmadinejad as saying.

Let me think...Iran...1979.... Well golly! That seems like fun!

Theran (Reuters)- The Iranian government on Monday ordered the closure of a daily newspaper and banned a new women’s bi-weekly from publication in the first media crackdown since President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took office in August.

Wow! You mean it was 4 whole months!? But wait, there's more!

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran has decided to resume research into nuclear fuel production, a top official said Tuesday in a statement certain to increase concerns that Iran is moving toward production of nuclear weapons.

Told you we had a slam bang finish in store for you. The time for us to act is way fuckin' nigh, friends.

*Update: The IDF is on the ball though.
IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz on Tuesday said that Iran's nuclear program "can be destroyed."

Two More Down Amigos....

Way to go IDF!

GAZA (Reuters) - Israel killed two Palestinian militants in a missile strike on a car in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday, Palestinian medics said.

The Israeli military said it had launched an "aerial strike", which targeted a vehicle carrying a senior member of Islamic Jihad in the Jabalya refugee camp.

Little Red Books Abound....

A detailed look at Russia's energy games.

The second lesson is that Russia’s imperial ambitions must be stopped today. It is important to stand by Ukraine and the other countries that lie between Germany and Russia. Rerouting Russian gas directly into Germany via the Baltic Sea, whilst bypassing Ukraine, Poland or the Baltics, should not be allowed. So long as Gazprom remains a Russian state-owned gas monopoly, it is necessary that some other authorities – be it other governments – are in a position to exert some control over the company’s gas deliveries. And seeing as Russia has apparently remained under the political control of former agents of the previous communist regime, such as KGB veteran Putin, it is imperative that Ukraine be brought into NATO.

Yep.

How MSN Learned to Love the Little Red Book....

RConversation takes a good look at MSN's bandwagon approach to the chinese crackdown on bloggers.

Microsoft’s MSN Spaces continues to censor its Chinese language blogs, and has become more aggressive and thorough at censorship since I first checked out MSN’s censorship system last summer. On New Years Eve, MSN Spaces took down the popular blog written by Zhao Jing, aka Michael Anti. Now all you get when you attempt to visit his blog at: http://spaces.msn.com/members/mranti/ is the error message pictured above. (You can see the Google cache of his blog up until Dec.22nd here.)

Note, his blog was TAKEN DOWN by MSN people. Not blocked by the Chinese government.

The whole thing is worth reading, so check it out.

The Run Down....

So New Years Eve....
My coat, phone, and nano were stolen. I missed getting to see some of my really good friends and New Years Day I awoke with the Plague.

So I totally went to work yesterday with the plague.

And now I have to try to rebuild my phone book. Unfortunately I just have to call several numbers as officially lost. Lame. But most of the ones that I use, I should be able to replace.

But the lost ones are a touch upsetting. Well, several of them are.

Anyway, I still have the plague so sporadic blogging today.

2006....

Meh.... Nuclear dreams and wake up smiling. I'll explain later. Hope you awoke to find 2006 a happier time than I did.

Further Adventures of the Armed Gunmen in Gaza....

This is like what, the sixth time in four or five days that Palaswinians brandishing guns have stormed into a building. Generally they go for the PA "government" buildings, but this time there's a catch.

GAZA (Reuters) - Masked Palestinian gunmen stormed into a club for United Nations workers in Gaza City early on Sunday and blew up the drinking hall, in a new sign of growing unrest in the chaotic territory.

Once again these idiots demonstrate that they have absolutely no idea what side their bread is butterred on. Maybe they wanted more money....

The United Nations is generally viewed with sympathy in the Gaza Strip. Its agency supporting Palestinian refugees is among the biggest employers in the territory.

Oh wait, I guess they just wanted more jobs....

Get 'R Done....

Jerusalem Post says that we just might be a big dark scary cloud on Iran's horizon.

The United States government reportedly began coordinating with NATO its plans for a possible military attack against Iran.

Sounds like good stuff to me.

Everyone's just paring down the Der Spiegel article though.

According to DDP, during his trip to Turkey, CIA chief Goss reportedly handed over three dossiers to Turkish security officials that purportedly contained evidence that Tehran is cooperating with Islamic terror network al-Qaida. A further dossier is said to contain information about the current status of Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program. Sources in German security circles told the DDP reporter that Goss had ensured Ankara that the Turkish government would be informed of any possible air strikes against Iran a few hours before they happened. The Turkish government has also been given the "green light" to strike camps of the separatist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Iran on the day in question.

It's pretty long, but I'd say it's worth a good skimming.
Just having this on the table is good way to ring in the new year in my book. But I'm generally in line with the Emperor regarding what this actually means.

Whatcha Gonna Do....

So I'm totally addicted to this movie.
It's not that good. I mean it's not terrible. It's quirky and cute and kinda charming, but real attraction is Jordana Brewster.
Hot.
Seriously. I like totally had to install a liquid coolent system for my TV.

[Sarcasm] Well I'm Shocked....

Hold onto your hats kiddies, I have Earth shaking news [/sarcasm]

A poll carried out in the Palestinian Authority shows 65% support for Al Qaeda terror attacks on the United States and European countries - the biggest donors to the PA.

As if being taxed wasn't painful enough.... Nice to know that part of my paycheck is potentially paying for my own untimely end.

The poll comes at a time when US and European funding of the Palestinian Authority is at an all-time high.

Never fear, the LLL will still demand that it's not enough. [sarcasm] Because we all know that showering those swine with money will totally make them go away.... [/sarcasm]

With elections due to be held next month and the Hamas terror group gaining significantly in municipal elections and polls, the survey further illustrates the desire of a majority of PA Arabs to establish an Islamic state, similar to Iran. A whopping 79.9% of Palestinians would like the PA to follow Shari'a - Islamic religious law. Included in the figure are 11.3% of the respondents, who would like to see Shari'a supplemented by the laws of a PA Legislature.

[sarcasm] But it's just a small minority who are in the extreme. Most are moderate peace loving people. [/sarcasm]

Last month (November 18th), in a sermon broadcast on PA-controlled television, Islamic leader Suleiman Satari offered the following prayer:
"Destroy the Infidels and the Polytheists! Your [i.e. Allah's] enemies are the enemies of the religion…! Count them and kill them to the last one, and don't leave even one."

Religion of muderous shit stains.

Meanwhile....

Things have been insane. The retail holiday season is over and the return season has begun. My job has decided to recognize this fact by working me to death.
No shit.
You're probably asking what the hell nudged me out of retirement. Well it wasn't the news. The Religion of Murder is still a fecund pile of the decaying remains of what used to be a civilized and enlightened culture- in the Dark Ages. The left and right are still trying to imprison and pacify us (the left, to pwotect our fwagile wittle self image; and the right, to save our permanently indangered souls). And the press is still a heap of lying liberal asshats.
So what's brought me back? Well, I missed you guys. (I'm so totally talking to myself. Isn't it hysterical?) Plus I got a shiney new notebook for Chrismakkuh and a wireless connection. Ain't technology grand?
So I've been making new friends and going to new places. And trying to work my way into (or keep myself in, I'm not sure exactly which at this point) the good graces of a rather beautiful woman who has actually surprised me. A feat which doesn't happen often. I have no clue what's going on right now because every time I'm around her I totally dork the fuck out. Though I'm now resolved to cow...girl the fuck up and be. aggressive. b-e- aggressive.
Anyway I'll see yall later. And by later, I mean probably in a few hours.
